In our bid to make a contribution to the environment, Irrawaddy Voyages ship's crew and onshore personnel, plant seeds within small recycled bags at a nursery close to Gawein Jetty - Mandalay.

These are then placed onboard each vessel prior to embarkation. During our daily briefings and optional lectures, guests are introduced to our environmental projects and invited to plant their own sapling during one of the shore excursions along the way.

Advance permission has been granted by the village elders and the school principals. In most cases, we prefer to involve the school students and invite them to assist our guests in the planting process.
